| The Southern
Alleghenies RC&D serves six counties in south-central
Pennsylvania. The council has been active in many beneficial
projects. Some of the projects are installing passive treatment
systems to correct acid mine drainage, partnering with others to
secure over 5,500 acres of land and water from the former Bethlehem
Steel Company for public use, and is investigating methods to
address nutrient pollution and energy production from excessive
dairy manure. |
