| The Penn’s
Corner RC&D Area covers nine counties in southwestern
Pennsylvania. It was authorized in 1972. One of its most recent
projects is the installation of an alternative wastewater system at
a county park. With shallow soils, a concentration of facilities
along the lake shoreline, and being distant from public sewers,
there were few options available. A RC&D Committee investigated
and selected a peat filter system. This experimental system has been
in operation for over one year and has provided acceptable results
and is meeting state water quality requirements. |
